I will start with a small disclaimer: I love a good blanket.
My home is filled with them, I have throw blankets on pretty much every chair, sofa, and bed. I love blankets for their decorative appeal, their tactile feel, and their practical uses. So, getting me to hit the "Buy Now" button on a new blanket isn't a particularly hard sell. But did I need a high-end, specialist, "outdoor" blanket in my life? Turns out I did…
Here are my eight reasons I love my Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket and why I think you would too…
1) It's Perfectly Portable
The Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket is designed to be a "go everywhere" solution and as such, is lightweight and portable. The one-person size blanket I love weighs in at 952 grams, while the junior size is just 272 grams, and the two-person version weighs 1.6 kilograms.
The stuff sack is the same pattern as the blanket.
Adding to the blanket's portability is the fact it comes with its very own stuff sack. I love this carry case as it matches the blanket's pattern (such a nice touch) and it's water-resistant. If you struggle, like it initially did, to roll your blanket to fit perfectly in the case, there's a handy how-to video on the Rumpl website.
2) It's Water-Resistant
All Rumpl Original Puffy Blankets use a 90/10 "DWR", a durable water repellent. The 90/10 rating means that 90% of the fabric has no water sticking to it after a spray test. This finish makes the blankets weather- and stain-resistant. This does not mean the blanket is waterproof, but it will definitely shield you from drizzle.
3) It's Versatile
I have found myriad uses for my Rumpl blanket. I feel sure you'll find your own ways of making this versatile blanket work for you, but here are just some of the ways I've used mine:
- As a portable blanket
- As a wearable cape
- As a car seat cover
- As a protective cover for furniture in a vacation property
- As a throw blanket on my couch at home
- As a picnic blanket
- As a lap blanket in my backyard
- As a privacy shield on a campsite
...And for making my kid an outdoor tent den.
4) It's Wearable
The Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket has a neat design feature — a small Cape Clip. This is unobtrusive when you're using the blanket as a traditional cover, but it allows you to wear the blanket like a cape. This design leaves your hands free so you can hold a cheeky beverage, carry out tasks, or simply keep your hands under the warmth of the blanket. I love wearing mine as a cape — it makes me feel like a rustic superhero.
5) It's Eco-Friendly
Rumpl is a brand I can believe in. Aside from the fact the Original Puffy Blanket is made from 100% post-consumer recycled polyester shell and insulation, Rumpl has several other reasons to be proud of its eco-friendly credentials.
The junior size Original Puffy Blanket is made from 16 recycled plastic bottles, the one-person size sees 60 bottles being usefully recycled, and the two-person size hits the hundred bottle mark.
- Climate Neutral Certified
This means Rumpl is fully carbon neutral, offsetting emissions.
- 1% For The Planet

- B Corp Certified

As well as the above year-round environmental commitments, Rumpl also supports local and grassroots causes that the brand believes in. Recent causes have included American Rivers, the Sheltersuit Foundation, Save the Waves, and the High Five Foundation.
6) It's Stylish
The Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket is available in so many different designs I honestly think you'll struggle to choose one. The choice really is that vast — and that gorgeous.
You really need to check out the Rumpl Artist Division artist-designed blanket designs.
I'm especially a fan of the artist-designed special edition blankets, the blankets that celebrate National Parks, like the Great Smoky National Park, and the options that are inspired by amazing nature areas such as the Rocky Mountains and the Grand Canyon.
7) It's Dog-Friendly
I'm completely devoted to my two dogs and try and take them everywhere with me, including on vacation. The Rumpl Original Puffy Blanket's water- and dirt-resistant design means this blanket is ideal to cover sofas in vacation homes to protect them from my dogs' everyday grubbiness. Sadly, telling them not to go on the furniture just doesn't cut.
I also use my blanket to protect my car seats when I've taken the woofers on a muddy walk. It fits perfectly across the back seat of my small car, shielding the upholstery from wet dog damage. Then, I can just pop it through the wash when I get home because...
8) ...It's Machine-Washable
It's not the most glamorous quality to highlight, but from a practical point of view, being able to just shove your blanket in the washing machine is a total bonus when you consider using it outside means it's almost certainly going to get grubby.
You can tumble dry your blanket on a low setting.
Rumpl recommends using a front loading washing machine on warm, and using a specialist technical outdoor clothing such as Granger's Performance Wash which is designed to help to protect the water-repellent finish on outdoor clothing.
